FI domain zone / Finland


Overview
FI domain is the official domain of Finland (Europe).

Finland - a state in the north of Europe. It is bordered on the east by Russia, on the north-west - with Sweden and north - with Norway. In the south and west coast of the country washed by the Baltic Sea and its bays - Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia.

Recommendations
FI domain is recommended for websites related to Finland or containing relevant information, for companies and individuals located in Finland or emerging to local market and for everyone interested in this domain zone.

Limitations
A domain in FI domain zone may be registered only by individuals, who reached the age of 15 and have a tax identification number of Finland, and companies incorporated on the territory of Finland. Resident individuals of the Aland Islands are also considered resident individuals of Finland.
Foreign companies may register domains in FI domain zone, only if they have registered representatives in Finland.

Companies are prohibited to register domain names consisting of personal first and last names (for example, maijavirtanen.fi or virtanenmaija.fi), unless such first and last names are registered as trademarks existing on the territory of the Aland Islands. To order such domains, a registration number of such trademark should be specified.
Individuals may register domain names consisting of personal first and last names (for example, maijavirtanen.fi or virtanenmaija.fi), only if such names are their official first and last names.

To register a domain, each company is required to provide its company registration number (business identity code or registration number) and each individual is required to provide his/her identification code (Finnish personal ID number).
